We are a family owned business with over 30 years of combined experience in the crane industry. From Noosa to Caboolture, Caloundra, Maleny, Maroochydore, Coolum, Nambour, Mango Hill, North Brisbane and beyond – there is no job too difficult for the Origin Cranes team.
Originally from Toowoomba, Brad fell in love with the Sunny Coast when his family would holiday there and has now been on the Sunshine Coast for the past 10 years. Brad has over 30 years of experience in all facets of general crane operations. He grew up in a family crane business, Sugdens Cranes, that was started in 1973 by his father Dick Sugden. That business is still running today in Toowoomba.
Brad spent over seven years running the family business before deciding to move to the Sunshine Coast. To gain further knowledge in the crane industry, he took a FIFO position and spent two years with Freo Cranes in Karratha, Western Australia supervising their large fleet of cranes and staff. He then joined Max Cranes in South Australia operating cranes in the gas fields. After a few months with Max Cranes, he was promoted to Supervisor and worked his way quickly to Operations Manager for another year.
Brad operated cranes locally on the Sunshine Coast and in Brisbane before meeting Dan when the two decided to start Origin Cranes together. They have solid plans and ambitions to build the business, diversify and to provide the Sunshine Coast region and surrounding areas with the best service in their industry.
Dan is very well known on the Sunshine Coast and grew up enjoying the coast lifestyle. He and his family have lived there for 30 years and in that time, Dan has spent many years working in a variety of industries.
Offering our business over 20 years of experience in construction, mining and general plant hire, Dan has a wealth of experience in different industries taking him all over Australia. This has allowed Dan to develop a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to be successful and what is required to run, own and operate a crane hire company on the Sunshine Coast.
Dan grew up following in his father’s footsteps in mining, spending 4 years in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia where he ran 2 projects as Site Supervisor. Dan has also been involved in the planning and preparation of large diamond drill programs. He has spent 6 years Supervising underground mining projects and operating a large variety of heavy equipment.
Dan is also a qualified carpenter; this gives him exceptional insight when working in the Sunshine Coast’s light construction industry.
